Hi. I'm Emma.

Author and publisher behind Bare & Brave Publishing.

I grew up in South London being the kid who was different in too many ways to count. Juvenile arthritis at seven. A bladder rebuilt in surgery at sixteen. Bipolar Disorder that went undiagnosed for far too long. An AuDHD diagnosis that came late enough to rewrite everything I thought I knew about myself. A grief I didn't know how to hold.

I spent a lot of years being too much for some people and not enough for others. And I spent even more years watching the world produce content for people like me — and getting it spectacularly wrong. Too soft. Too clinical. Too scared of the actual thing.

So I stopped waiting for someone else to get it right.

Bare & Brave Publishing is what happens when someone who has lived a lot decides to write honestly about it. Two streams. Both unapologetic.

The Big Stuff is a children's series that tackles the topics adults sometimes tiptoe around — body safety, big feelings, bullying, anxiety, peer pressure, knowing when to speak up. Written for children, but with enough respect for the parent reading it at bedtime to be honest with them too.

The journals are for women doing the harder internal work — the kind who have finely tuned filters for anything that sounds like it was written by someone who's never actually struggled. No toxic positivity. No filler. Just space to be honest with yourself.

The name says it all, really. Bare — because the only content worth making is the kind that tells the truth. Brave — because sometimes that takes nerve. From the writer as much as the reader.

I started this for my nephews Kavelle and Kavalli — my favourite reasons to write brave books. But I kept going for everyone who ever needed to read something that treated them like an adult, or a child, who could handle the truth.

You can.
